1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I've been into Star Wars since I was ten years old and most of my hobbies revolve around those incredible films. I'm a big collector of Star Wars toys and other collectibles, mostly focusing on Anakin/Vader pieces, and of course I am very dedicated to my costuming. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I've been costuming since August of 2002, when I wore my first custom Jedi costume to Comic-Con International that year. Seeing as it was my first time, the response was fantastic. I couldn't believe people would actually ask to have their picture taken with me. It's been a roller coaster ride ever since. I've had a handful of poor experiences as well, mostly dealing with some of the seedier people in the hobby, but on the whole it's been great and I've met some wonderful people that I hope I will still be friends with for years to come. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing the Star Wars movies? I had heard my friends in elementary school talk about the original trilogy and I kept seeing it referenced on television, so it finally peaked my interest in fifth grade and I begged my parents to buy me the VHS trilogy box set from Costco. I watched all three of them that weekend and countless times since. 4) When did you get your first Jedi/Anakin Costume and what made you chose it? I mentioned earlier that I had my first Jedi costume in 2002 but I first stepped into the Anakin boots the following year in 2003. My family and friends kept telling me that I looked like Hayden Christensen in Attack of the Clones and despite not really believing it I made the costume anyway. There must've been something to their words because the response I received that year and ever since has been incredible. Because of that I quickly became hooked on the character and began costuming as Anakin in every way I can, including being the first Revenge of the Sith Anakin on the scene in July of 2004, nearly a year before the film was released. I've since created several other Anakin costume variations and plan on doing every version that I can. 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Anakin Skywalker? I've had lots of fun as Anakin over the years, including appearing at the charity premiere of Revenge of the Sith in LA, being featured in the Star Wars Insider magazine and reinacting the duel on Mustafar in front of a crowd at a Master Replicas party amongst countless other things. But, without a doubt, my favorite appearance was my first one at Comic-Con International 2003 where I met my girlfriend of over four years. I was doing line duty for Paizo (the then publisher of the SW Insider) and she started hanging around after eyeing me from across the room. I started up a conversation and the rest is history. Had I not been Anakin that day we might never have met and things would be drastically different today. 6) Any final words? For all of the aspiring costumers out there, always do your own research. Decide the level of detail and accuracy you're going for and reach that point at your own pace. Don't be afraid to ask for help and advice from the experienced costumers, they've been in your shoes before and can be a great asset in your search. Have fun with it, don't rush things and be careful, for once you start down the path to screen-accuracy, forever will it dominate your destiny!
